Our Stunning Waders Holiday Home

A family holiday home for many years, Waders was a much loved, slightly tatty retreat for our family every summer and many other holidays besides. As our family grew and grandchildren came along we decided it was time for a little nip and tuck and a sympathetic extension which nearly doubled the property in size.

After two years of being lovingly renovated, we are very pleased with our efforts and are proud to open our doors to you. We hope others can take away as many happy holiday memories from Waders as we have over the years.

Ground Floor

Entering the house through a pretty conservatory-style porch you'll find a wet room ahead. Fully tiled with hanging for wetsuits and beach paraphernalia, it was designed specifically for rinsing down everything (and everyone) after a day at the beach.

Once through the hall another hugely practical room is the enormous utility/drying room with a washer, dryer and hanging galore - a great space for unloading after the beach.

The huge sitting room has fantastic views over the creek, an open fire, a bridge table and plenty of comfortable seating.

Dining Room

The spacious oak floored kitchen/dining room is a great family room, with Aga, granite worktops, luxurious underfloor heating and a large old farmhouse kitchen table which can seat up to 12. Adjoining the dining room is a sitting/play area - somewhere to relax and read the papers or have an evening drink taking in the south-facing views across the creek.

There are double doors leading out onto the garden and sheltered terrace. The large flagstone terrace has ample seating and there is a lovely metal fire bowl enabling you to sit out even on chilly evenings.

Finally, there is also a large twin room downstairs which can double up as a playroom.

First Floor

A huge open Swedish-style landing leads onto five large bedrooms (four ensuites) and an additional bathroom.

The twin room at the top of the stairs has a pair of vintage wrought iron single beds and overlooks the hills and fields beyond. This bedroom has sole use of the bath/shower room off the landing.

All four other bedrooms are ensuite with kingsize beds, beautiful sheets and quilts from Susie Watson Designs and painted floors; not to mention fantastic views across the creek. Two of the bedrooms have curtained-off cot areas which fit a standard travel cot.

Second Floor/Attic

Up another flight of stairs is the newly converted attic. A lovely bedroom for kids with clapboard eaves and carpets to absorb the noise! These beds are to be used by arrangement only. There is also a bathroom on this floor.

Holiday Reviews...

“…we had an idyllic long weekend at Waders earlier this year. The house is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully designed, but with masses of space for families and noisy children! The views are breathtaking and some of Devon’s most beautiful beaches are within driving distance with crabbing opportunities for the kids within 10 minute's walk…we will definitely come back soon…”

“…we had such a fantastic Christmas at Waders last year with all my family. The house is just beautiful - so stylishly decorated and incredibly cosy, with stunning views from the terrace and bedrooms. There is so much space for all the family. I would highly recommend it for a family getaway or a weekend with friends at any time of year…”
